What is the Raw Food Diet?

Raw food diets have been around since the 1800’s, and the goal of this diet is to consume raw foods that are high in nutritional value, barely processed and heated to a maximum of 60 oCelsius. The aim is to consume foods that our bodies were naturally meant to digest. Some foods commonly enjoyed on a raw foods diet include nuts, seeds, fruits, and veggies.

What are the Benefits?

There are countless benefits of consuming a raw food diet. The diet has shown to help reduce inflammation, improve digestion, boost fiber intake, improve heart health, and even help prevent cancer. Raw foods also help alkalinize the body which means that many of us could benefit from adding more raw foods into our diet.

Juice Fasting

What is Juice Fasting?

Juice fasting is a traditional way of detoxing where one only consumes fruits and vegetable juices in order to obtain nutrition while staying away from other foods during the fast. Juice fasting is done as a way to eliminate built up toxins in the body to restore health and promote healing.

What are the Benefits?

The primary benefit of juice fasting is its ability to help the body flush out built up toxins. With so many environmental toxins and toxins found in modern day foods, it’s hard to avoid toxic built up. When you start a juice fast, you allow your body to rid itself of toxins that may be trapped in fat cells, the lymphatic system, and can even help expel toxins from other organs. Many people feel refreshed and ready to start a clean eating diet once they are done with their juice fast. Juice fasting is a great way to prep the body for a cleaner way of eating and can help get you on track.

Buchinger Fasting

What is Buchinger Fasting?

This type of fasting is different from juice fasting in the sense that it’s all about a low-calorie fluid diet with similar effects as the traditional water fasting. This low-calorie approach allows for about 250 kcals per day from things like juices, teas, and broths. 

What are the Benefits?

Buchinger fasting helps to cleanse the body and can help activate self-healing. This type of fasting has also been shown to help treat a number of illnesses.

Vegan Diet

What is a Vegan Diet?

A vegan diet is free from all animal products like meat, dairy, fish or eggs. The focus is 100% on plant-based eating from foods such as vegetables, fruits, legumes, grains, nuts, and seeds. The only difference between a vegan and a raw food diet is that vegan dishes can be cooked and enjoyed hot.

A vegan diet provides the body with alkalinizing high fiber foods that help nourish the body.

What are the Benefits of a Vegan Diet?

Many studies have found vegan diets to be one of the healthiest diet options available if done properly. A vegan diet has been shown to decrease the risk of heart disease, certain cancers, and diabetes. This is because animal products have been shown to increase the risk of these chronic diseases. A vegan diet may also be very helpful for those who suffer from high cholesterol, as plant-based foods are virtually cholesterol free.

Gluten Free Diet


  What is a Gluten-free Diet?

A gluten free diet eliminates all sources of gluten such as wheat, rye, and barley. Those who follow a gluten-free diet either do so because of a condition called Celiac disease, or due to a gluten sensitivity. There are also people who follow this diet because they know that gluten can cause inflammation within the body, and the gluten found in modern day foods can be difficult to digest. Some of the common foods eliminated from a gluten-free diet include pasta, baked goods, and bread. The great news is that more and more companies are offering gluten-free options due to high demand, and ALMA Retreat is happy to accommodate gluten-free eaters.

Benefits of a Gluten-free Diet:

Many people go gluten-free as a way to promote better digestive health. For some, gluten is very hard to break down causing digestive upset. When gluten is removed, better digestion may occur. Going gluten free may also help clear up the skin, reduce brain fog, and even assist with weight loss. We only offer gluten free menus in our retreats – though in our ALMA Lifestyle programs you can chose to include wheat products.


Paleo Diet

What is a Paleo Diet?

Paleo diets are becoming more and more popular which is why ALMA Retreat is very excited to offer this dietary option on location when you visit the retreat! A Paleo diet is focused on consuming foods that our ancestors ate. It essentially consists of what cavemen would find to eat such as meats, fish, nuts, leafy greens, veggies. Processed foods are not allowed on a Paleo diet.

Benefits of a Paleo Diet:

One of the major benefits of the diet is the fact that the diet is based around the idea that we consume the foods our bodies were designed to digest. When we eliminate the junk food and focus on whole and natural options, it helps our bodies get back into balance, and gives our digestive systems a break.

A Bulletproof diet is a very realistic approach to consuming very nutrient-dense fats, proteins, as well as vegetables. This diet is all about increasing the body’s fat burning abilities while boosting energy levels.
